Important notice for agents

Regarding shipments to Russia, we would like to attract your attention to the following, very important points :

Customs in Russia is extremely complicated, and shipments to Russia have to be prepared very thoroughly.

The following points have to be strictly followed :

1. In Russia, the MBL is a CUSTOMS DOCUMENT. For this reason, EWF can NOT be mentioned as consignee. The MBL should reflect the REAL shipper and the REAL consignee, and EWF should be mentioned as notify.

The consignee has to hand over a contract and an invoice to customs, and the information on the MBL (shipper, consignee and description) should be EXACTLY the same, as in this contract and invoice.

Please note, sometimes the company that makes customs is not the same as the company that buys the goods !!!

For this reason, it is extremely important to agree about all these points, BEFORE any goods will be shipped. This will avoid costs for changing manifests or delays.

Before shipment, if possible, EWF should contact the consignee, and we should receive draft-BL from your side.

2. House B/L’s mean nothing in Russia. It is possible, to set-up an exchange of B/L’s against HBL, but only in case the MBL is in original in our hands. It does not work in case of telex release !

3. EWF can collect ocean freight and other costs in Russia, but please be aware that cost for “exporting” currency from Russia are very high. Please keep this in mind, before offering such an option to your clients.

Keeping all these points in mind will allow you, together with EWF, to build up a long and successful relationship with both exporters and importers.
